Me .... and my Shadow
All these crocus recently and finally a yellow one! Crocus chrysanthus pictured in a few minutes of late afternoon sunshine.
Although many of the commonly grown spring crocus are yellow, only a few out of the 90+ species have yellow flowers. Crocus chrysanthus, from mountains in Turkey, is the parent of many of the yellow and cream coloured crocus. Hybrids between this and the variable Crocus biflorus have produced a whole range of attractive and easy to grow spring crocus. There is a big planting of these in Norwich which I will blip one day.
