Stunner!

Crocus reticulatus

Sunshine brings out the best in crocuses!

Seed raised, this very fine form from Greece not only looks magnificent when open, it also has striking stripes on the outer petals. The Blackish anthers open to reveal yellow pollen, hence the two-tone effect.

Why 'reticulatus'? Reticulate means netted, in this case the fibrous coat around the corm is woven, like a net. It's all in the name!

Hope you like it as much as I do :-)
