Crows on fire
Another busy day today, with an appointment at lunch. For the last couple weeks, it's staying light till we leave work and if weather permits, there have been some gorgeous sunsets (and sunrises). As we drive through the town just South of us, the crows and starlings are flying in to roost. Most days, the starlings are flying about in a large murmuration, and it was my intent to try to photograph that today. The sky cooperated, the birds cooperated, my camera cooperated...what the problem was is that I was on the wrong side of the power lines. All in my shots, and I thought I might be OK with it, but got home and no go. There's about a 15 minute window with the right light, and so there wasn't time to move. Where I need to go puts me at a bad angle to get the murmuration and roost flocking happening with the brilliant sky behind. I'll see what happens tomorrow. Luckily, I did take a couple tight in shots of the tree filled with crows, just one of many in the area. I'm sure there are hundreds of crows and hundreds of starlings that come to this area to roost.
It's an amazing sight to see and I just loved watching all the action and taking photos.
