A Year in Phnom Penh

Another day at work

The usual start to the day... cup of coffee, turn on the computer, planning, lists and books galore. I mostly like this job a lot...the kids are great, I love teaching again and I'm helping to plan and figure out the future for the school. But this morning felt a little grey, as we lost another teacher yesterday and another probably on the way out. And we have not a single CV to replace them. We cannot find teachers. And good teachers truly are the heart of a good school!

The school is moving forward in so many ways and lots is planned for the next year, but at every turn, we are reminded of the limitations we face in this context, which are too many to list here. But despite the many limitations, I must remember the flip side to this coin....the opportunities, which, just like the limitations, are like nowhere else in the world.
