Perfect(ish)

The lads' 'Perfect Apple Pie' (see yesterday for the lads in question) was declared perfect by my chief taster, but not by me: more filling next time I think. Tomorrow: steak and mushroom pie.

Today's main event was a football match for Conor's team; actually a series of three matches as there were four teams there in all. It was in our school gym - the first time I think they'd played indoors, which makes for a rather different game (a lot more kick-ins for a start). Conor was 'gardien' (goalkeeper) and kept a clean sheet for all three matches - thanks mainly to excellent defending from his teammates and one rather efficient save with his shin. The final match (a decider between our team and the team from Saint Sulpice) went our way with a goal in the dying seconds. Very exciting. It was the full soccer mom experience: competitive parents hollering from the sidelines, freezing cold kids with blue knees, bored siblings. Ah well, only another nine years of this before he can get a moped and take himself to matches...
