Winter vignette

Two plants from opposite corners of the globe creat a small vignette in a rock garden.

Penstemon califronicus ( a rare penstemon native to the Mts near San Diego California, but very hardy in Denver)

and Bulkiniczia cabulica (It's the rossette f)rom Afganistan and Pakistan and to the best of my knowledge exists in cultivation from just a handful of collections

A form collected by Gotheborg Botanic Garden (this one perhaps)
and a form collected in Pakistan in 2001 by Denver Botanic Gardens staff in the days and weeks following 9-11.
It amzing how so many plants hang on in cultivation by only a tread. All the more reason to cultivate and learn about those organisms that share our planet and fix the sun's energy driving in the end and begining the circle of life.
