Day 19 - Lake Pukaki & Mount Cook
Trip down from Queenstown to Lake Tokapo was done in beautiful sunshine.
Stopped off at the Kawarau Bridge to watch a few bungee jumpers take a leap of faith, then on through the fabulous vineyards of Gibbston.
Traveling north we finally got a clear view of Mount Cook and the Southern Alps. Lake Pukaki offers this fantastic view of Alps, with Mount Cook or Aoraki in Maori, in the centre.
For once I've not altered this image in any way. The aquamarine colour of the lake is caused by rock flour, formed by the grinding of rocks under glaciers, being held in suspension in the lake water.
On to Christchurch tomorrow.
