Carmel -- Around the Bend
We drove to Carmel-By-the-Sea this afternoon. It's west, or maybe that's south (not sure because the coast curves so much), of Monterey where we are staying again tonight.
Carmel is a quaint community; a place where no one gets mail delivery to their residence. It's wrapped with the history of writers and artists and actors and politicians. It has as beautiful a shoreline as anywhere in the world. This photo is taken at the south end of Carmel quite close to the Carmel Mission and the Mission Ranch Hotel & Restaurant Resort owned by Clint Eastwood.
Near sunset as we watched the big orange ball sink, we also could see whales spouting way beyond the waves. The late afternoon sunlight illuminated their spray.
Earlier we had eaten lunch on the water's edge of Monterey Bay and could see lots of sea otters diving and then surfacing and eating while swimming on their backs.
Mid-afternoon we stopped at the Carmel Bakery for a goody and a cup of coffee. Mr. Fun also purchased a bakery goody "just for pups" -- that was a real hit when we got back to our pups waiting in the car for us. We divided it between them and they wanted to know why we hadn't purchased one for each of them!
This has been another good vacation day. I think tomorrow we've going to make our exit from Monterey Bay, but we haven't made the final decision on that. I think I'll know by tomorrow evening at "Blip Time."
Good night from Monterey Bay.
