Thieving Raven!

We often put large chunks of old bread out on the small plateform at the bird feeder, held down with a large nail sticking up (i'm always a bit amazed that none of the birds seem to have a problem with this!!!).....this is always very exciting for the blue jays, the chickadees, nuthatches etc....but it is particularly atttractive to the pair of ravens who reside here!!! so when i saw one of them closing in...i grabbed my camera and fired off many shots! Tricky business for sure.....but i love this one!!! Not long after i got a few shots, the raven managed to pull the whole chunk up and off the nail....had itself a nice little feast a few feet away. It then flew off with a large piece in it's beak, i'm assuming to give to it's mate!

in other news....it's been snowing all day here, just for a change!!!! but actually, as i just looked out the window, there is a bit of a break in the weather....might just nip out for a walk before it gets to dark.

Also, i've been doing a bit more work on the painting exercise - this time a landscape...i'm gonna put it over on flickr!!

definitely worth a closer look!
