Two No. 93s squeeze by
The sun struggled all morning to break through the clouds and finally made it by about 1pm. This was a lovely surprise as rain had been forecast for my birthday. It meant that we could do exactly what I wanted to do to celebrate: walk along the coastal path down to Blackpool Sands and 'do lunch' there at the beach cafe, before climbing uphill home again.
The bus drivers here in the South Hams of Devon are very skillful and patient. These two took some time to pass each other on the narrow coastal road, though they do so successfully in even harder places. Villages, including ours, are very tricky to negotiate, as the drivers edge their double-deckers around parked cars, tight bends and protruding walls and hedges.
Makes a good spectator sport. Slows down journeys though, especially in the summer when there's lots of tourist traffic.
Am now sipping Buck's Fizz (for which I had a sudden fancy) and soon we'll settle down to watch a film. Haven't quite decided which yet. But they all look good on our new-for-Christmas big flat-screen TV. Only problem with this new toy is that, for the first time ever, I can't put my birthday cards up on top of the telly. Hmm.
