Best. Birthday. Ever!

Back-blipping my birthday blip. So hard to choose which, but this shows the sheer drop and steep edges to this island. We hired a people-carrier on my birthday and daur's boyfriend kindly chauffered us all to some of the many beauty spots.

Lots of new roads have been built in the past seven years and last time we looked down from this point it was undeveloped. Now a new glass-bottomed viewing platform has been built. We stood and looked down past our feet - 580 metres above sea level, from this viewpoint, called Cabo Jirao.

Oh - and when we returned to the hotel (same one we stayed in 7 years ago) - there was a knock on our door. In came the barman with a bottle of fizzy in an ice-bucket and a gorgeous cake, complete with candle - and the compliments of the management! How lovely is that!!!

Couldn't have had a lovelier birthday - the best ever! I am such a lucky blipper.

Am posting this two days after the event, largely as I've been too busy having fun to switch on a pooter and, also, as retaining a steady connection is difficult; the signal's rather weak from our room. But I will catch up soon.

Thanks for your kind comments - can't wait to get home to snow (!) Hah! That is if our flight isn't delayed or our landing diverted. It's looking a bit dodgy from what we've discovered online so far.
