Excellent hill for sledging

I've always been interested by this hill between Stocksfield and Riding Mill. There are woods all the way along the road and then suddenly this grassy gap, I've always wondered why.
If I knew how to get there I think it would be an excellent hill for sledging down (apart from the railway line at the bottom which may make it a little risky!).
