Sunshine!

Crocus gargaricus ssp gargaricus blooming marvellous when the sun broke through this morning.

Native to NW Turkey where it flowers on high mountains as the snow melts. Very hardy and a good garden plant it is not widely grown as it does not increase quickly. These are seed raised, taking 3 or 4 years to reach flowering size. It flowers while the leaves are very short, appearing almost leafless, a characteristic more often seen in autumn flowering crocuses.

Not only crocus out in the sunshine, I spent much of the day cleaning and tidying the greenhouse. (OK this job should have been done months ago!) Also Andy returned to complete the removal of the old greenhouse and continue preparations for the Grand Plan. Progress at last!
