RED ADMIRAL
Someone was curious yesterday about the Yellow Admiral and wasnt sure of the difference between the two - Here's the Red Admiral - Yesterday was the Yellow.
I'm confidently advised that the feelers of a Butterfly are always different to the Moth ( which are similar ) by the bulbous (club) ending of the Butterflys'.
the other thing is the folding of the wings by butterflies at rest - the opposite being the case with Moths.
New Zealand Geographic tell me there are 24 species of butterfly here in NZ and at least 1700 species of moth - 90 percent of the moths are only found in NZ.
They are all of the Lepidoptera order - moths generally being found at night and butterflies in the day.
hmmm - easy to see which ones I prefer to photograph.
