Back in the homeland!
Wednesday
Arrived in Manchester this morning - in the rain! At one point we'd had our doubts that we were going to make it. Our flight from Cincinnati to Chicago was delayed about 75 minutes due to very strong winds in Chicago, so they had severely cut back on the number of flights they were taking in. The guy at the gate was actually in the process of trying to re-route us through Amsterdam, which would have at least got us there the same day, though much later, when he got word that our plane was cleared to depart. However, we still didnt have a great deal of time to change terminals, go through security again and get our boarding passes which they wouldnt issue in Cincinnati. Fortunately we just made it! Then, having arrived in Manchester, we went to pick up our luggage and one suitcase arrived, then a second....but no sign of Laura's - for some reason hers didnt make the connection. So we filled out a form and the guy said all being well it would be on tomorrows flight!
The first week we spent with Rogers parents who live near Warrington, so we didnt have far to drive. After a lazy morning, and when the rain had finally stopped, we went out for a walk at Marbury Country Park with Rogers Dad and his sister, who lives just down the road from his parents.
