Hadrian's Wall

Having retrieved Laura's suitcase from the airport, we set off for Northumberland - to Hadrian's Wall country. It was rather a grey morning and we had some rain on the way up. We stopped for lunch at a very scenic service station and arrived in Northumberland around 2pm. We visited the visitor center at Once Brewed and went for a great walk along the wall near Steel Rigg. The weather had improved by now, though it was chilly and extremely windy, but the visibility was good. The picture shows the wall and one of the milecastles.

After that we went and found our Bed and Breakfast, which turned out to be really nice and in a great location, and went out for dinner in a nearby pub.
