#4 Sun Flare
I learnt a lot today. For instance, I learnt (through the computer thinking my spelling was wrong) that there is no such word as "learnt" in American English. More importantly I learnt about sun/lens flares, how to create them and the fact that those annoying little dots that appear sometimes when the sun is close to a shot aren't specs of dust, they are in fact created by the lens hitting all the glass.
It was such a gorgeous morning that after lunch we decided to take a nice Sunday stroll along the canal. I had gone out with the intention of finding something green, or getting a shot of the river from the bridge. I got a nice shot of a wood pigeon in an ivy bush but the river was lacking in interest. The sun had gone behind the clouds and all the shots seemed really flat and lifeless.
As we left the flat The Boy decided he needed his sunglasses so whilst he went back, I walked to the canal. I fired off some shots of the bridge with the sun behind it. I had no idea whether they were working or if I was getting any flare as the sun was blinding me. Back home, they'd turned out ok.
I'm going to aim to go for a wander more often, it was really nice to get out of the house.
In other news: I saw my first cyclist end up in the canal today. Or more accurately, I saw my first cyclist and their bike being dragged out of the canal. From the snippet of conversation heard as we passed I think they'd caught someone's bag as the passed them under the narrow bridge and fallen in. I always dread that happening to me when I'm cycling.
