British Blue cross

A quick blip today, one of the beef cattle in the yard. He is a British Blue cross, a year old plus, who will be with us for a while until he is sent to market.

N and I spent the afternoon planning where to plant some flowering trees on a plot of land on the other side of the farm near some houses. We have ordered Hawthorn (pink), medlar, Cox apple and a Japanese flowering cherry ( the species we have chosen in fact is Chinese!).

Last night A treated me to a late birthday present. This was another live opera at the cinema transmitted from the Met in New York. We watched The Enchanted Island, a baroque pastiche taken from Handel, Vivaldi, Rameau, Purcell etc mixed together with Shakespeare's The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was full of humour and flowed really well with great stage effects. The leading singers were Placido Domingo, Joyce DiDonato, David Daniels and Danielle de Niese to mention a few! T and K went to the Thai Restaurant for a meal and poor N stayed at home on his tod! He didn't mind and was quite happy watching some Tosca on TV. (Not forgetting that he took me to my favourite restaurant in Sherborne on Friday night!)
