Ear Infection
Orla has another ear infection. Last night before bedtime, she suddenly started to cry and complain that her ear was sore. She went to bed okay, but woke up crying around 11. This morning she said she was fine, but I made an appointment with the nurse anyway. She took a look and said that the ear-drum is very red. She prescribed antibiotics. Although they're not always necessary for ear infections, I think they are being cautious because last time Orla's ear did become very infected and it lingered for weeks. Thankfully this time it's amoxycillin suspension straight away, which is a smaller dose, rather than the futile attempts with the normal stuff we had last time. She is still refusing to take it though, and each time today it has been a major battle. She is so strong and so fast - twice she's managed to grab the syringe out of my hand. I'd love to think she'll calm down and just take it, but I think we're stuck with this rigmarole until the course is finished. Luckily, she seems pretty much fine otherwise, although her temperature was up a bit tonight. Calpol will fix that though, and she has no qualms about taking Calpol!
