My Bling
I don't care for cars, shoes, luxury holidays, sparkly dresses, expensive jewellery, or fluffy cushions... I prefer chunky glass and pottery, wooden things, and celtic swirly metal things.
I like recycled glass and handmade glass because I enjoy the imperfections, the air bubbles, the slightly off-centre lack of order, symmetry and uniformity. I can't stand total uniformity - it's not natural. I do like balance though.
I think that organic shapes and swirls join things in a continuous way and create a sense of completeness and balance.
We bought 2 of these glasses a few years ago (I wish I could remember where!) and I deliberately chose 2 that were matching but different. It's comforting to have things that have an obvious human connection and not an assembly-line, manufactured look.
