This is the Glasgow coat of arms, seen from the River Kelvin walkway as it passes below the bridge on Gibson Street.
The city motto, Let Glasgow Flourish, was part of a sermon by Glasgow's patron saint St Mungo. The emblems represent myths and legends during the city's early days.

Here's the tree that never grew,
Here's the bird that never flew,
Here's the fish that never swam,
Here's the bell that never rang
