Parking Congestion at Heyford Wharf

Here's a bright scene on the canal on a bright January day! The narrow-boats seem mostly (but not all) parked up for the winter.

We are at Bridge No 206 (one of my series of numbered canal bridges!!), about 14½ miles north of Oxford.

We were last on this stretch of the canal in August. This Blipfoto for Thursday 11 August was taken right by here, just south of the bridge. We were walking south, about 5 miles towards Oxford.

Today, we ambled a little way north, but the towpath was too muddy for walking any serious distance. The railway and canal are next to each other at the wharf, but separate somewhat immediately north. In the meadows between the tracks and the canal, we found this tree with wonderfully contorted branches. We are standing by the canal, and the railtrack is visible beyond the tree.
