Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge
I had such trouble deciding what photo to go with today. As we left our room at the Oregon Gardens Resort, there were 4 does across the street looking right at me. We had a little breakfast at the resort, then headed north for Voodoo doughnuts in Portland. I normally avoid grains, but this is a world famous place and I had to partake. I had the Portland Cream, which is their take on a Bavarian Cream. It was fantastic. Then off to Ridgefield, where Sue was recently. Found lots of nutria like she did and got off some good shots. There were lots of coots, which are pretty common around here, but I have never seen them on land before. Managed to check off the Cinnamon Teal from my list. There were tons of swans around, but none close enough for a detailed photo, but made up for it with lots of shots of reflections on the water that were bird filled. Also plenty of herons, but I blipped one yesterday, so those shots were just for me. I finally settled on the above shot as it shows both birds and scenery from where I was today. Noticed several aeries around the refuge, hope this pair will nest in one. The bird in the front is an American coot.
Home now and I'm beat! Really fun weekend.
