The journey continues...

I love the beach!

We arrived in Mar del Plata at 6am, very groggy and confused after our 5 hour sleep. We had some coffee and medialunas at the bus terminal which conveniently passed time until it became light outside.

Since it was too early to check in to our hostel we just dropped our bags off and made our way to the beach. For being so early in the morning there was a lot of people around. Most surprisingly was the number of people out exercising.

Lauren and I spent the early morning lying sleeping on the beach. The nicest part about this for me, after spending the whole of January continually sweating, was having to wear a sweater and still not be that warm. As soon as the city began to come to life we made our way to another little cafe for some more cafe con leche and medialunas.

Then it was time to check in and meet our 2 other room mates, a french and a spanish guy. Since we woke them up, we got ready as quickly as possible and headed straight to the Varesse beach which was recommended by our taxi driver and tourist guide. All of the beaches seemed to have a public area and an area where you can pay for little huts or umbrellas which have access to a pool aswell. Since we got there sort of late we decided to just find a spot in the sand. It was so so nice - a lovely warm day with a strong coastal wind meaning that it was almost impossible to get too warm/sweat. However we learnt the hard way that not feeling too warm doesn't mean that you can't get burnt.

End of the first day = Lauren and I looking like lobsters, with potential sun stroke and therefore sleeping the rest of the night and missing dinner...lesson learnt!
