Ambitious mama

This chicken is sitting on upwards of 21 eggs right now. She picked a spot in the deluxe chicken coop we've got here on the farm, while the other soon-to-be mama is incubating her eggs (a mere 9) in a banana tree nearby. We stopped pulling the eggs so we could have more chickens around, and it looks like we're going to be rolling in chickens pretty soon here.

Mama duck's eggs hatched a few days ago. Sadly circumstances have been unfavorable to the ducklings; only one of the original three has survived. We very much hope the hardiest of them makes it to duckhood.

Not sure when the eggs are supposed to hatch, but I thought I'd do a current chicken count on this, the last day of January:
