School's Out

An empty school dining hall.
Peace and quiet,
No chattering,
No chomping,
No slurping,
No burping.

I didn't have school dinners until I was 43!

I wasn't a late starter, it was at my daughters primary school.
They were having an open day, a few years ago and parents were invited to view a normal days activities and so I stayed for lunch too.

There was no grey gravy or lumpy custard on offer, just healthy options. If I remember correctly, I had vegetable wholemeal pizza and mixed vegetables, just to be extra healthy.

So I can say "I had school dinners and lived" (longer) :o)
