More snow in Baku.
This is snow sculpted by the famous Bakuvian wind. Today there are roads with no snow on one side and high drifts on the other. The wind has been howling all day, and it looks set to continue cold and snowy for the next few days. I last posted a photo on Saturday when I'd been out enjoying the novelty of snow here. On Sunday we discovered that all our water pipes apart from the low pressure mains had frozen... on Monday even that froze so we were without running water - had to use bottled water and heat it up in the kettle to wash. A partial thaw on Wednesday brough the mains line back and when the pressure was high enough we managed to put on a wash and have showers. With temperatures set to plumet now, we just hope that we don't lose the mains water again. Unfortunately the low pressure has meant that our central heating is no longer working as the pipe supplying that has frozen and we now are reliant on split a/c heating units and a couple of oil filled radiators.... none of which work when the power goes which it tends to do in the early hours......
Still at least the office is now closed until Monday - we can just hole up at home!
