Fork off
Yes, I gave my fork a day off today... With temperatures maxing out at a balmy (or should that be barmy) minus 3, painting and gardening were both struck off the to do list for today and added to the to do list for 'warmer times'. Instead today's to do list, had I stopped shivering enough to hold a pen, would have consisted of filling and refilling the parafin stoves, boiling the kettle a hundred times for cups of tea and huddling over a heater, tea in hand to watch the birds squabbling over the fat balls. Jays and woodpeckers joined the fray today, but everyone quailed (pun intended) before the aggressive blue tit who doesn't like anyone touching his balls.
Many conversations with Mr B today about a thorny problem of a vaguely legal nature that doesn't want to go away. Most of my advice consisted of 'just keep calm and try not to be sarcastic', which I'm sure is worth the £300 an hour that lawyers charge now (or whatever, I'm a bit behind on current charging rates). So long as he brings home the box of curly wurlies he's promised the kids, I'll be happy.
Tomorrow night will be, we are told, the coldest night of the year so far. Great night to have a little girl for a sleepover. Tomorrow I will, therefore, mostly be trying to get the house warm enough which will be tricky since I note that the parafin heater to my right seems to be giving up the ghost.
Edit: After a stern talking to and (probably more importantly) a bit of a wiggle of the fuel tank, it's fine again.
