Now You See 'Em

I admit it, I enjoy a good lens flare. When I least expect it, those pesky little rays will pop in my frame. That's when I get swept away- moving my camera around to see what I can catch.

JJ Abrams used lens flare big time in 2009 "Star Trek". Like punctuation marks, he inserted different colors and shapes of light- anywhere and everywhere. At times they even streak across a character's face. When asked why he included so many, he responded, " I love the idea that the future is so bright it can't be contained in the frame." And that, I thought, was a cool thing to say.
