Brandy de Jerez
What's your favourite tipple on a cold winter's night?
Mine's a warming brandy!
Cardenal Mendoza is a Spanish brandy from neighbouring Cadiz Province I first tried it a few years back, whilst staying in a B&B in Arcos de la Frontera, near Jerez.
It was a cold, windy night and our host opened a bottle and invited us to try; I've been a convert ever since.
It matures in casks that have previously held Pedro Ximinez wine and sherries - so for me it has a satisfying richness, with a hint of Christmas plum pudding. Salud!
