Casualty
Hamish had been talking about buying lots of eggs to take to his friend's house. M would supply the butter and sugar, and C had offered to bring flour. They were going to attempt to beat the world record for the tallest pancake stack which is 29.5 inches or 672 pancakes.
I asked if M's mother knew about this and Hamish begged me not to mention it just in case she didn't.
Granny Pam arrived to join us for a bowl of soup before we went out for the afternoon. On leaving, she fell down the steps outside my front door. I had to help her into the car but she insisted that we continue with our plans to do a little shopping and take H to Broughty Ferry.
It soon became apparent that GP had to go to A&E. Two ambulance men and two nurses were required to extract her from my car. Several x-rays and hours later, I have come home and left her behind to be taken to a ward. It seems that I'll be spending a bit of time at the hospital over the next few days.
My mother is super fit, elegant and glamorous for an 80 something - I sincerely hope this is not about to change.
I was meant to be going to a Chinese New Year party this evening but it will be over by now. I wonder if a new world record has been set today. Judging by H's delicious blip, the boys still have a few more pancakes to toss. I did say that 20 eggs would be insufficient.
