high tide

Left the Pennine hills in ankle-deep snow and drove to the coast through fog and slush, with occasional winter wonderland scenes. The moors were remarkably clear in spite of the Road Closed sign left over from last nights blizzards. Clear blue skies and 8 degrees warmer in Whitby!

Went for an amble and overheard some old local boys talking about having to eat seagull and kittiwake eggs during the war. Austerity isn't what it used to be.
