Agriculture at it's height?

Poor day yesterday. Started with a swim in the sea, but not great beach - decided to drive to Cameron Highlands. MISTAKE! Roads OK to Ipoh, and first approach to CH, but traffic solid @ 1 Km/Hr for 6 hours. Couldn't find an hotel, vacancy and ended up crossing the whole CH. Towns there are filthy slums. Brinchang probably the worst, and it was the night market there which caused the miles of T jam.
Every sq.m. of cultivable land is given over to strawberries under poly-tunnels, or tea / cress, much in a ramshackle manner, disfiguring the countryside. All in all, not what we expected, but, I'm afraid, what we are coming to expect in Malaysia. Fingers crossed for Penang.
12 hours after leaving Lumut, also pretty crap, we found an hotel room (£12) and slept without interruption for full 8 hrs.
