Cleanliness Is Next To Inverness

Joseph Lister, 1st Baron Lister, was a British surgeon and a pioneer of antiseptic surgery, who promoted the idea of sterile surgery while working at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He later came back to Edinburgh to be Professor of Surgery though (from 1869 - 1877 if you can't read the small print)

The first man to think doctors with clean hands were a good idea. What a guy!
