Aye Spy

Late afternoon. The air was still, no sound to be heard. A mist had started to roll down the north hillside. Light was fading, but still light enough. Loch Turret has its own unique charm.

Close in to the dam wall the ice was solid, thick and gnarled. A little further into the loch, the ice had thinned and broken into small pieces. Further out still, the ice was wafer thin and drifting. Where the ice floated free, the reflection was clear and bold. Where the thin ice remained the reflection was blurred and wispy.

This created an optical illusion, suggesting water flowing over a broad weir throwing up a misty spray as it fell.

In fact, the loch was flat calm.
