The Bass

After a day moiling away at the interface I cooked a highly edible (I thought!) Bengali fish curry and then we went over to the Parlour (a pub) to see Jess's pictures. Tricky place to hang pics, a low-lit pub. And we spent some time in semi-conversation with some totally miraculous friends of DM - I was accused of being his mother at one point. Jings,I'm not nearly posh enough!

Anyhoo, we stopped off for a nightcap in Nobles on the way home. It was crowded but we found a wee corner to sit in and I noticed several dingy images pasted on to the back of the tallboy. I think they had been there since before the smoking ban in Scottish pubs and so still had a strange yellowy-brown patina. But I liked this image of the Bass Rock, which makes it look like some strange thatched hut. And then when we got home, I read of the passing of Jupiter. Blip is a strange place indeed; I find that I feel sad about the death halfway round the world of a cat I never even met. But for some months in his long and adventurous life, Jupiter stayed in a flat in North Berwick from whence he must occasionally have stared out at the Bass Rock.
