Cooking Soup and Melting Lead

They broke the mould when they made my neighbour Steve. A few years ago I needed to borrow some jump-leads and called in to see him. He wasn't in his (empty and unlocked) house but I found him fishing by the harbour and he told me that he'd come and help. After a further 20 minutes of silent fishing I asked him if I could borrow them 'now' and the penny dropped that I was in a rush so we went to get them. Or rather try to find them... We searched his outbuildings for a further 20 minutes but to no avail. It didn't deter Steve though. He simply spent a further 20 minutes locating a couple of sets of rusty pliers, cleaning them up with WD40, finding a suitable length of wire, insulating the handles and eventually emerging with a set of dangerous-looking but fully functioning homemade jump-leads!

Last year he provided wonderful entertainment by fixing his roof and repointing his gable end: relying entirely on his homemade wooden ladder and plinth that he had attached to the building with extra strong adhesive!

Today I called in on him to find him cooking soup and melting lead on the same hob. I didn't bat an eyelid.

In other news, I changed a nappy for the first time in over two weeks today.
