Very cold and very quiet!

Drove down to Thirsk this morning in temperatures around -5. A key shopping morning and market day and the town was - very cold and very quiet. I felt pretty much the same and am beginning to appreciate the advantages of hibernation. It would be an improvement if the sun were visible, where are you sun? Last Saturday was much colder in Holland but it was glorious in the blue sky sunshine.
Came home to do some therapeutic cooking involving much vigorous chopping and slicing providing a satisfying activity. I can also keep an eye on the birds who continue their feeding frenzy in the back garden.
Alarmed to hear the coldest place in the country last night was Lincolnshire at -16! Hope it warms up before next Wednesday when I am due to drive down. Now to take Bracken on her afternoon walk, she doesn't seem to notice the cold. I, on the other hand will now spend several minutes adding a few layers before opening the door!
