Blimey !
My bf took me to visit my friend in hospital yesterday afternoon. It turned out that the dislocated shoulder made my friend vomit when back at home after the morphine wore off and this then ruptured his oesophagus which leaked the vomit into his chest and partially collapsed a lung.
Took the first hospital a while to realise the importance of my friend, P, being there as they were treating him as wasting their time until they checked him out. Then they whisked him over to the heart and lung hospital in Liverpool where the consultant recognised the symptoms, organised a CT scan but was already getting his team together for the op.
P had to swallow some coloured liquid so they could trace where it was leaking from and where it was leaking to. Then they did the op.
When I saw him yesterday he was being fed via a tube through his nose from the red plastic bag you can see in the blip. As well as being on antibiotics intravenously. He also has a catheter fitted.
He will be having another CT scan on Monday to check that it is healing ok and nothing else needs repairing.
Don't know when he'll be allowed home but hopefully he's recovering well.
