WOW!

Made an early start - sun is shining and the sky is blue. We followed the coast road then came inland through the Waitaki Valley - this has to be a "wow!" Driving up and over the mountains for miles and we didn't see a soul ! Around every bend was another awesome sight ! Of particular mention were a series of dams creating vast reservoirs of turquoise water - some of the rock formation is similar to the Lake District. We finally approached civilization where there were again huge vineyards and fruit farms - the apricots are wonderful ! We visited a cheesery and winery before arriving in Queenstown. This is known as the adventure capital on N.Z. All the adrenaline junkies are here for the bungi jumping,sky-diving etc - that's not quite our scene - however we got our "fix" on the golf course ! We went to Kelvin Heights - did a twilight round after the completion of the Queenstown open so the course was in tip top condition. What a course !!! On 3 sides it is surrounded by turquiose alpine waters and the 4th by mountains. It is acclaimed as one of the most picturesque courses in the world.Pic shows the 14th tee - we took so many pics it was stunning !
