Eglise St Martin, Palalda

On the way back from Prats de Mollo, we stopped in Amélie les Bains. I can't say we found it a particularly interesting place on a cold February day. But we crossed the river and explored the small medieval settlement of Palalda on the hill above the town. It has a Romanesque church consecrated in 993. This is the church door. It's typical Catalan decoration; the church in Prats de Mollo has a very similar door.

If anyone wants to see a few more photos of La Fête de l'Ours, I posted a set on Flickr. It's an interesting form of carnival; it's just a pity it was so cold. My fingers were ready to drop off by the end of the afternoon, and a chocolat chaud in the bar was most welcome!

In Amélie this morning, it was a balmy 7C with no wind. Back here on the plain, it's 3C, the wind is gusting at 100 kph, and the fountain is still dripping with ice.
