From Across the Pond...

9,000 miles and you can't get away from Coca Cola

I was hoping to go to my first rugby game tonight, but unfortunately the tickets fell through, so Shep and I watched it at a cool bar called the Pig and Swizzle. Rugby's a little easier to pick up than cricket, and we had a fun time cheering with all the locals whenever the Western Province team scored. It's pretty amazing to watch the 270-pounders lift each other up in the air like cheerleaders when the ball gets thrown in, and though the sport is less brutal than football, the players are ridiculously tough.

After a few more tonskies at the Pig, we walked downtown to meet up with the rest of the SAEP folks and a group of Dutch girls who are down here for three weeks doing their own projects but working out of our office. Everything was going great until one of them decided to go off on a long anti-American rant, which I don't believe any of us had spurred. It wasn't the first one I've heard since my arrival here, but thankfully I didn't come to Cape Town to argue with Europeans about who's more arrogant and ignorant. Besides, we all know America's awesome :)
