Love
Spent the day surrounded with love, as it should be on Valentine's Day, with not a commercial card or gimmick in sight.
Had to get up early for an appointment so the children and I made the most of our morning and went down to the shore as it was low tide. They had a good romp about, I took lots of photos of birds and boats but settled on this find of Freya's. She always has an eye for interesting shapes and as well as this heart shaped stone she also found one shaped like a fish which she brought home to paint.
Noah was collecting shards of pottery and fragments of sea glass and enjoyed making a slate mosaic with them when we came home. We had a nice lunch together then dropped Freya at a friends before heading to Clarkston to visit my dearest old school friend. We spent the afternoon blethering and eating cake which was just brilliant, it has been too long since I've seen her and we had so much to talk about. It's really quite funny as both our eldest children are now the age we were when we met back in 1984 and they are going through many of the same things we did, but it doesn't seem that long ago!
On the way home I realised I could save Carlos the horror of his daily commute as I was in good time to pick him up from work so I headed into Glasgow and we shared the gorgeous sunset as we drove home - better than any Valentine's card or present. I had made him one little Valentine's treat - a batch of his favourite empire biscuits, only heart shaped and iced in red. Wonder how long they'll last? Off for a quiet evening before work tomorrow.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
