Lower Heyford

Another picture of the canal but this time much more rural at Lower Heyford where the canal runs alongside a local railway line.

I was actually on my way back from Upper Heyford where there is a large old cold war American Airbase. Fascinating history and for the last 10 years or so it has been a potential development site for a 1000 new homes.

Since it was brought by a developer the staff accommodation on site has been let to private tenants and a whole new community has sprung up in the middle of this vast expanse of airfields and hangers and estate buildings -probably a unique situation I would think.
