Bunker Mentality

Here's an interesting remnant from WW2 still evident in Eberle Street (just off Dale Street where I work), in the heart of Liverpool's gay clubland - just opposite the G-Bar if you're interested.

Having checked out what Liverpool History Society have to say on the matter I can confirm that it is 100% genuine. The History Society also helpfully say that Eberle Street was named after the 18th century Town Cook, Mr. Eberle, who owned two hotels in Dale Street and was in charge of catering at the Town Hall which is also on Dale Street. Nearby Cook Street was, perhaps unsurprisingly, were the Town's kitchen was located.

So now you know!
