All Day Breakfast
Tim first appeared in one of my earliest blips back in June so I thought it was about time to feature him again, particularly since I spend so much time with him. We go to meetings together practically every week and speak on the phone or email each other virtually every day.
We spent all day together today in the cause of mental health. The day started with an inspirational visit to a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit which is doing amazing work on limited resources. We followed this with a meeting with a psychologist who specialises in working with people who have eating disorders. Again, some great work is going on to help people but not enough staff are available to meet the demand.
The afternoon was spent meeting with Mental Health Service Commissioners and updating ourselves on the latest structural changes to local services brought about by the Health and Social Care Bill which is not even law yet but has caused utter mayhem.
Somewhere in all of this I managed to take Tim for an All Day Breakfast to boost his strength! Here he is waiting for his Full English to be delivered (I contented myself with a hummus and roast pepper panini!)
I asked Tim what the equivalent of a Full English would be in his Nigerian birthplace and he decided that the Full Yoruba might include:
Rice
Pepper soup (with meat or fish of choice if required)
Plantain (called Dodo)
Yam
Cocoa yam (properly boiled or else poisonous)
Black-eyed beans (called Moyin Moyin)
Cassava
Sliced okra (with pepper soup)
Nuts
Mango
Pawpaw
Guava
Banana
Orange
Breadfruit
And a nice drink of water.
Feeling peckish yet?
Have a great weekend everyone!
