Eyeballing
Everyone who has been successful in dealing with people has some kind of training or experience in making eye contact. The process of staring someone in the face and looking directly into their eyes ensures that they recognise your sincere effort to communicate with them.
This was perhaps my friend Tina's intention when she popped over this afternoon with my birthday present.Bella being Bella, was eager to help with the untying and unwrapping of the gift.Queue : EYEBALLING
However, I think someone should tell her that ,to a dog, going eyeball to eyeball is a form of agression. It's asserting dominance .Just as well it was Bella in the picture and not Tyler. Seemingly, you should not try to outstare your dog if he has aggressive or nervous tendencies(which he has) as this could provoke an attack. Nevertheless, regular, gentle eye contact reassures the dog and reinforces your relationship.
Truth be told both dogs love their aunt Tina to bits and smother her with affection and licks each and every time she comes to visit. This is simply an unfortunate photograph.I need to wear those glasses more often in order to select the perfect capture.
