Mission accomplished!
This is not just a brown cardboard box or even a recycled box (I'm not advertising for Amazon),
But is a box containing the efforts of many hours of work!!! This is the first year that I have been involved in this activity.
We (B & me) have transferred the Nurses League membership details from bits of paper and hundreds of cards on to an electronic data base and this box contains the paperwork for the first mail out of the details of the next AGM. Invites, address labels, lists for each of the 4 categories of members etc.
It's not surprising that the printer has thrown a couple of "duvet days" and refused to work, only to print beautifully the next day!!
The box has been sent to the group who will fill and post out the envelopes.
We have approximately 320 members and have only had communication from about 50% of them in recent years.
Why?
Are we writing to the dead? Are we writing to the uninterested? Are we writing to the wrong address?
Plan? if they don't reply this year we will archive their details. The members have been informed (nicely). We cannot afford to spend money on stamps for nothing.
We are returning to the old hospital building (now part of the University) for this meeting, after a break of several years. The service in the chapel and lunch in my old ward!!! If that doesn't encourage a response from the living nothing will!!
