The Wren

Looking north-west

Both the dogs and I needed a long walk today, so when I looked at the sky and saw the dark cloud - which appeared to be harbouring snow - to the east I decided to head towards where the blue sky still beckoned and risk it staying fair until I was home.

I returned to a relatively new walk for us, but one where the path had been improved immensely and was delighted to see that further improvements had been made since my last walk. Last time Bruce had found a gap in a fence just before the end of the walk and had exploited it perfectly! Now the field where he had escaped into was full of sheep, probably in lamb, and thankfully a new gate had been erected with no gaps small enough even for him to squeeze through! We walked for about two hours along the broad forestry track and often had wonderful views across to the north and west. The small pond/lake in the middle ground of my blip today appears to belong to the farm and even has its own boat house which must be fun to use in the summer. I'm not sure if you can see them here but there also appear to be a couple of resident swans the water. The highest hills are still sporting a smattering of snow, although they are melting into the sky on this image, but as I we returned from the walk the dark cloud had well and truly caught up with us on the bitterly cold wind. Now that I am home there have been a few flurries of large snow flakes and I suspect that the hills may now be whiter on the top.

So, despite last week's mild spell it appears that Spring has not yet sprung. Hope your weekend is a good one.
