A "Des Res"
It has been a wonderful spring day here and a busy one. My middle grandson B joined me again on his bike and this time we had a long walk along the River Thames with both dogs thoroughly enjoying wide open spaces to run in with lots of new smells to intrigue them. There are a number of splendid houses along the banks of the river with their gardens reaching right down to the water's edge and many had special inlets or boathouses for their long boats or small cruisers. This one caught my fancy with its untidy thatched roof as a Canada Goose noisily flew past while I was walking and deposited herself firmly on the roof. Both B and I decided that she was making it her home and would soon have eggs laid there! If you look closely you can see her just to the left of the little window. There were many other water fowl enjoying the river too and in particular we watched mesmerised as a colourful goosander dived and dived for what seemed like ages before bobbing up to the surface again.
In the afternoon, I went with the two older boys to have a game of tennis, well as much as you can with a granny, a six year old and a four year old. It was good fun and we all enjoyed being out in the fresh air.
